Phoenix Dance Theatre's new building is situated in the cultural quarter of Leeds City Centre just a stone's throw away from Yorkshire Dance where the company was resident for over 20 years. There is little on-street parking outside the building but nearby car parks include the NCP on New York Street, West Yorkshire Playhouse’s car park and the George Street car park (near the Open Market).
Please note the correct postcode for the building is LS2 7PA and not LS2 7PD.
FROM THE NORTH (HARROGATE, WETHERBY, MIDDLESBROUGH A58)
Following the signs to the city centre you will arrive on Regent Street. Landmarks to look out for include a Renault Garage, a Pratt’s furniture store and Floors-to-Go. You will also see signs for West Yorkshire Playhouse and Quarry Hill and a red and blue bridge directly ahead of you. Go straight on under the bridge keeping the Playhouse on your left and then take the next left onto St Peter’s Square, at the end of St Peter's Square you will see Phoenix's building directly opposite you.
FROM THE SOUTH (LONDON, WAKEFIELD, SHEFFIELD M1)
Approaching from the M1 and then M621, come off at Junction 3 and when the road splits get in the right hand lane heading for Leeds City Centre and stay in lane. Follow the road past MSF Peugeot and Halfords on your left, again remaining in the right hand lane. Follow the road round to the right (signposted St James’s Hospital) and you will immediately pass Asda headquarters on your left. You will now be in the left hand lane; go straight through the next set of lights and you will pass Carlsberg Tetley Brewery on your left. Get into the left hand lane, at the next set of lights you will turn left onto Crown Point Road. Stay in the middle lane and go past the entrance to Royal Armouries on the right, and go over Crown Point Bridge. Go straight ahead through 2 sets of lights and get in the middle lane signposted York A64. Follow the road round the back of the big Quarry Hill building and take the left hand lane onto the ring road, signposted A6110. Almost immediately on the ring road, take the next slip road left and then follow the road around to the left. Keep the Playhouse on your left and then take the next left onto St Peter’s Square, at the end of St Peter's Square you will see Phoenix's building directly opposite you.
FROM THE EAST (YORK, GARFORTH, TADCASTER A64)
Head towards the city centre on the A64. You will see the large Quarry Hill building on your left. Take the slip road on the left, signposted for the West Yorkshire Playhouse. At the bottom of the slip road follow the road around to the left. Keep the Playhouse on your left and then take the next left onto St Peter’s Square, at the end of St Peter's Square you will see Phoenix's building directly opposite you.
FROM THE WEST (LIVERPOOL, MANCHESTER, HUDDERSFIELD M62, M621)
Approaching from the M62 eastbound, take junction 27 onto the M621 to Leeds. Turn off at junction 3 of the M621, following signs for the city centre. Follow the road past Halfords. Keeping in the right-hand lane, turn onto Great Wilson Street past the Asda headquarters. Go straight ahead through the next set of traffic lights and keep in the left-hand lane. After Tetley’s Brewery, take the next turning into Crown Point Road. Go past the entrance of the Royal Armouries on the right, and over Crown Point Bridge (River Aire). Turn right into Marsh Lane (signposted York A64). Follow the road to the back of the big Quarry Hill building and take the left-hand lane onto the ring road. Almost immediately on the ring road, take the next slip road left and then follow the road around to the left. Keep the Playhouse on your left and then take the next left onto St Peter’s Square, at the end of St Peter's Square you will see Phoenix's building directly opposite you.
Leeds City Station is the nearest rail station to Phoenix. To get to Yorkshire Dance on foot from the station, head right down Boar Lane in the direction of the Corn Exchange. Once you reach the Corn Exchange head down Call Lane keeping the building to your right and then continue on to New York Street until you reach the Bus Station. Just past the bus station use the four public crossings to cross St Peter’s Street and turn left. Turn right up St Peter’s Square and follow the road to the end where you will find Phoenix's new building. (This walk will take approximately 20 minutes to half an hour)
