Phoenix Dance Theatre is delighted to announce its upcoming Spring tour which includes a thrilling revival at The West Yorkshire Playhouse of one of the company’s earliest works Nightlife at the Flamingo following a sold out run at The Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre as well as work by Douglas Thorpe, Aletta Collins a new commission from Sandrine Monin.

Calyx, explores beauty, duplicity, decadence and eroticism. A new commission by company dancer Sandrine Monin and composer Roberto Rusconi, this exciting and unsettling work is inspired by the poems of renowned French poet Charles Baudelaire.

Beast, a powerful and unforgettable piece by Leeds based choreographer Douglas Thorpe explores the concept of choice and consequences that follow wrong decisions.

With a live microphone at its heart, Aletta Collins’ Maybe Yes Maybe, Maybe No Maybe sees five dancers blend movement and voices to create a uniquely witty piece of dance. Teasing and playful but full of attitude, the work is set to a score by composers Street Furniture that transforms the dancers’ voices into the beats and accents of a pulsing soundtrack.

One of the company’s earliest works Nightlife at the Flamingo, is re-imagined by Edward Lynch for a cast of founding, retired and current company members. Fusing Jazz, Soul, and Reggae this dazzling piece captures the atmosphere of a 1940’s American dance hall.
