“A sparky, mischievous quintet that fuses self-generated and manipulated sound effects with juicy and at times gymnastic motion. Full of sassy humour, it’s a crowd-pleasing indication that Phoenix’s future looks bright.’– The Times

‘A highlight of the ballet is the manner in which pairs of dancers create single structures becoming hybrid forms… the connection between musical and choreographic texts is intimate and complementary: Monin and Rusconi are real finds!’ – Dance Europe

Don’t miss Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Autumn tour which includes three thrilling dances in one performance:

Calyx, explores beauty, duplicity, decadence and eroticism. A new commission by company dancer Sandrine Monin and composer Roberto Rusconi, this exciting and unsettling work is inspired by the poems of renowned French poet Charles Baudelaire.

Beast, a powerful and unforgettable piece by Leeds based choreographer Douglas Thorpe explores the concept of choice and consequences that follow wrong decisions.

With a live microphone at its heart, Aletta Collins’ Maybe Yes Maybe, Maybe No Maybe sees five dancers blend movement and voices to create a uniquely witty piece of dance. Teasing and playful but full of attitude, the work is set to a score by composers Street Furniture that transforms the dancers’ voices into the beats and accents of a pulsing soundtrack.
