Our first tour under the artistic direction of Darshan Singh Bhuller showcases visceral and dynamic dancing, evocative commissioned music and choreography from both sides of the Atlantic.

"Phoenix has risen again in its most impressive form yet"
The Guardian, Feb 2003
New York choreographer Jeremy Nelson draws inspiration for The Fact That It Goes Up from life in a modern city. Relationships between dancers form and dissolve, reflected in complex movement that flows from the sinuous and graceful to the taut and explosive. The dance is perfectly complemented by Doug Hendersons hymn to urban life, which blends a rhythmic heartbeat with sampled inner-city sounds.

"Nelson makes fascinating movement - a combination of rag-doll looseness and knife-edged precision."
Deborah Jowitt, The Village Voice

Fin Walker is a rising star in the contemporary dance world. As Artistic Director of Walker Dance & Park Music, she won The Jerwood Choreography Award (major prize). Her partnership with composer and joint Artistic Director, Ben Park, brings harmony to her movement and his music.

Me & You, her tense and intricate duet, barely veils the strength of the two male dancers. The jagged movement bursts out with a vigour that is exhilarating. The vocal duet created by Park, mirrors, punctuates and entwines Me & You.

"The ferocious assault course laid down by Fin Walkers white-hot choreography weaves its way through landmines of human emotion in extremis. One false move and youll be blown to smithereens."
Allen Robertson, Dance Now

In Requiem, Darshan Singh Bhuller examines the shockwaves that ripple through a community in the wake of an archetypal tragedy. Through a seamless blend of live dance and film footage, set to a haunting soundtrack by composer Jocelyn Pook (DV8 & Kubricks Eyes Wide Shut), the story unfolds. This compelling dance drama takes us on a journey from the depths of grief to the soaring hope of new love.

"Choreographing movement is one thing, but choreographing dance which expresses emotions and themes lucidly is quite another...we have in Bhuller one of these exceptional dance makers."
Emma Manning, The Stage
