Imagine a world where
all you hold dear has been destroyed, where
your friends become foes and your neighbours are your
enemies. Could you risk everything for the sake of
love?
Inspired by harrowing news reports from war-torn Yugoslavia
and the true story of lovers divided by religion and community,
Planted Seeds vividly portrays the brutality of a war waged
within a country. Planted Seeds depicts a nation spiralling
downwards into chaos - a world where lovers are ripped
apart, where men breed by force, and where loyalties
are tested to
the limit.
Planted Seeds first toured the UK to critical and audience
acclaim in 1999. Its focus on the human cost of conflict,
rather than the politics of a specific war ensure it’s
as relevant today as on its first performance. The intensely
theatrical
dance brings to life stories of individuals striving
to survive in the shadow of war, powered by an emotive
soundtrack
of
Gorecki, U2 and Sarajevan star, Goran Bregovic. Planted
Seeds is set
to become a classic contemporary dance work.
