Youth Dance Platforms
As part of our commitment to provide performance opportunities and raise aspirations of young people, we are proud to host three youth dance platforms per year in the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre. Showcasing the very best in local, regional and national talent, we invite children and young people from a range of backgrounds to present their work in a professional theatre environment to audiences of up to 230 guests.
Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform celebrates youth dance across Yorkshire, inviting groups of all styles to showcase their work and share in the successes of youth dance in the region. Previous years have included performances from DAZL Youth Dance Company, Shahck Out Juniors (RJC Dance), Dance United Yorkshire Performance Company and Phoenix Youth Academy.
This year, our Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform will be taking place on Friday 16th March. The Access and Education Team are currently seeking youth dance groups who would like to perform at this event to showcase their skill and creativity; providing them the opportunity to perform in the Stanley and Audrey Burton Theatre in our building. If your group wishes to apply to perform in the Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform, please complete an application form or contact Sophie Wyatt on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0113 236 8130.
All application forms must be returned no later than Friday 9th February.
Summer Youth Dance Platform; a special performance that brings together groups, schools and colleges whom we work with throughout the academic year in recognition of their achievements. Taking place in July each year; this event includes performances from our Saturday School, Illuminate Dance, members of our Schools Partnership Scheme, Phoenix Youth Academy and Phoenix Academy North East.
ResTec takes place in November each year in reference to World AIDS Day. Raising awareness through dance, our practitioners work in five schools across Leeds during a six week period to create work exploring themes related to this topic. We also invite our Youth Academy and three youth dance groups from London to perform at this event.
