Youth Dance Platforms

We are proud to deliver three youth dance platforms per year as part of our commitment to provide performance opportunities and raise aspirations of young people. We invite the very best of local, regional and national talents to the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre to present their work in front of an audience of up to 230 guests.

Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform

Phoenix Dance Theatre is proud to host our 7th annual Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform in our home town of Leeds on Friday 22nd March 2019. This event aims to celebrate the skill and creativity of young dancers from across the Yorkshire region.

Previous years have included performances from DAZL Youth Dance Company, Vivid Dance Theatre, 412 Dance, and Phoenix Youth Academy. Last year, we had 111 young people from Halifax, Leeds, Pontefract, and Sheffield perform to a sold-out audience.

The application process to perform in the Yorkshire Youth Dance Platform 2019 is now open. If you are interested, please complete an application form or contact Lucy Stoddart on 0113 236 8130 or for further information.

Summer Youth Dance Platform

As a celebratory event for the end of the academic year, this special performance brings together groups, schools and colleges with whom we are working with over the past 12 months. It takes place in July each year and showcases performances from our Saturday School, Illuminate Dance, members of our Schools Partnership Scheme, Phoenix Youth Academy and Academy NE.

The ResTec takes place every late November/early December in reference to World AIDS Day. We aim to raise awareness through dance and send our practitioners to work in local schools across Leeds during a six-week period in order to create work that explores themes related to the topic.

Our Youth Academy and youth dance groups from London are also invited to perform at this event.
