Phoenix Dance Theatre appoints new Chair

12 Sep 2019

Phoenix Dance Theatre is pleased to introduce Pamela Doherty who recently assumed the role of Chair of its Board of Trustees.

Leeds born and bred; Pamela is a business heavyweight who has achieved the dizzying heights of the Boardroom at a young age. Having started her working life aged 17 with no formal university qualifications, Pamela has gone on to become a highly respected businesswoman with the last 10 years in various Executive Director roles, underpinned by 20 years experience in Human Resources. Continuing Pamela’s non conventional career, she has also recently established a new business in Leeds – AxiaOrigin, with which she expects will disrupt the consultancy sector.

Mark Hollander, Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Executive Director says “we are absolutely delighted to welcome Pamela into the fold. Her growth from small beginnings to senior leader emulates that of Phoenix’s own story, and her Director level roles at both Kelda Water services and Yorkshire Water make her the perfect candidate to lead the company forward as we continue to engage with the city of Leeds and deliver world-class contemporary dance.”

With a keen interest in dance, Pamela said “I am over the moon to have been appointed Chair of Phoenix Dance Theatre. My interest in dance was sparked at a young age when I attended classes at my local dance school, and to now be able to represent an internationally recognised contemporary dance company, founded in my hometown is incredibly exciting. I cannot wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Pamela takes over the position of Chair from Keith Evans who resigned after a five-year tenure with the company.

We hope that you will join us in welcoming Pamela to Phoenix Dance Theatre and thanking Keith for his dedication over the last five years and his continued support.
