As the Professional Training Manager, Antonio oversees Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Youth Academy Programme, Postgraduate Placements and Junior Dancer programme.
Born and raised in Italy, he trained in The Netherlands, at CODARTS Rotterdam – University for the Arts, graduating with a Bachelor Honours Degree in Dance Performance. He then danced professionally with Phoenix Dance Theatre (England), Scapino Ballet Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Florence Dance Company (Italy), worked with internationally renowned choreographers such as Sharon Watson, Richard Alston, Regina Van Berkel, and danced repertoire by Jiri Kylian, Natcho Duato, Hans Van Manen, Henri Oguike, and many others.
Since 2013 Antonio has worked with Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Learning & Development department, managing Phoenix Youth Academy, and delivering classes and workshops in schools, universities, vocational training centres, and for professional dance companies throughout the country.
Teaching credits include Phoenix Dance Theatre, National Dance Company of Wales, A.C.E Dance and Music, Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre, Mobius, Emergence, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, The Hammond School, The Place, KS Dance, Renaissance Arts, Morea Performing Arts, Northern Ballet Academy, Greenwich Dance, ProDance Leeds, among others.
Antonio has also worked with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and Dr. Ross McKim on the research, development and launch of the ISTD Contemporary Syllabus.
Passionate about management and leadership in the performing arts and creative sectors, in November 2022 Antonio graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a MSc in Management & Leadership; his master’s thesis explored the relationship between leadership and employee engagement in performing arts organisations.
