Melina was born and raised in Limassol Cyprus. She left the island at 17 and came to the UK to pursue a dancing career. She successfully completed a three-year BA Hons Degree in Ballet and Contemporary Dance at Rambert School. Melina had also been a part of ‘Diastasis Dance Company’ for 4 years performing and touring around Cyprus and internationally . In 2017 Melina worked with Alexander Michael in a collaborative project with ‘Black Box Dance Company’ for the European Cultural Capital Festival in Pafos (CY) and Holstebro (DK). She performed with Cypriot dancer/choreographer Panos Malactos in theatres in Cyprus and the UK. As well as two separate collaborations with Cypriot choreographer Lia Haraki. And for 2 years collaborated and worked with Italian Choreographer Francesca Foscarini performing at festivals and in theatres in Italy and Greece.
Melina also took part in La Bienale Di Venezia’s festival 3 years in a row. Starting in 2018 as a college Danza performing works by Marie Chouinard and Daina Ashbee. Later returning in 2019 as a professional dancer for the college choreographers. Finally in 2020 as a college choreographer premiering a new creation titled ‘Rhythms and Blues’ with 7 dancers.
In 2019 and 2020 Melina premiered 2 new creations as a young choreographer for the Cyprus Choreographic Platform “Platforma”. The first work titled ‘Voicemail’ in collaboration with Visual Artist Christina Papakyriakou. The second piece a collaboration with musician Antonis Hadjiantonis titled ‘Cross Pollination’.
