About Michael:

Filipino, born in Italy, Michael started his career in the USA with Cleveland based GroundWorks Dance Theater, where he originated roles in works by Artistic Director David Shimotakahara, Kate Weare, Loni Landon, Robyn Mineko Williams and Gina Gibney among others. Aside performing, he was a dance faculty member at the Cleveland State University as well as a freelance choreographer: he premiered (a)maze at the art gallery Tregoning & Co. and Behind the Next Door at the Cleveland Public Theater’s DanceWorks 2017 in collaboration with company Alpha.

After training in Verona at the Vic Ballet Academy, he went to The Juilliard School to pursue his BFA. During his years in NYC, he had the pleasure to premiere creations by Monica Bill Barnes and Darrell Grand Moultrie, perform repertoire by Jose Limon, Merce Cunningham and Jiri Pokorny, dance with Lar Lubovitch Dance Company at the Joyce Theater, preview Larry Keigwin’s work at the Guggenheim Museum, represent the school at the Assemblee Internationale 2013 in Toronto as well as present work at the school and at the Dumbo Dance Festival 2014.

After 6 years in the USA, Michael moved to the UK in the Autumn of 2017. He danced in London with Alexander Whitley Dance Company and shortly after he joined Leeds based Phoenix Dance Theatre, where he is currently in his first season.
