Rachel Poole
Head of Communications
Rachel has over 20 years of experience working within arts marketing, communications and sales in the arts and theatre industries.
Born in Australia but brought up in Northern Ireland, Rachel started her arts marketing career in festivals, including the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, Belfast International Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe, before moving into theatre. She relocated from Edinburgh to Leeds in 2010 to assume a marketing communications position with Northern Ballet and is proud to consider herself an honorary Northerner of different kind now.
Prior to taking up the position of Head of Communications for Phoenix, Rachel was a freelance Marketing and PR Consultant, before which she worked at Leeds Grand Theatre for nearly eight years, where she was Head of Marketing.
Rachel was honoured to work with Phoenix on a freelance basis during its 40th anniversary year. During that important period of reflection and celebration of the company, from its humble beginnings through four decades of phenomenal development and creativity, she project managed the promotion of the 40 Years of Phoenix tour and the curation, creation and launch of the immersive Virtual Gallery and Commemorative Book.
As Head of Communications she is excited to be involved in this latest period of growth and change as it the company builds upon its rich heritage and illustrious legacy in order to carve out its place in today’s dance landscape. She looks forward to working with, and supporting, colleagues across all departments, maximising audience engagement, giving everyone the opportunity to be transformed by extraordinary dance, and ensuring Phoenix blazes a trail for another 40 years and beyond.
