About Vanessa:

Born in Hong Kong, Vanessa trained at the Royal Ballet School Associates and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance gaining a BA (Hons) in Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Whilst at Rambert School Vanessa performed works by Mark Baldwin, Kerry Nicholls and Martha Graham. More recently she has performed with Artists North and Thick Skin, with whom she performed at the Lawrence Olivier Awards. Vanessa joined Phoenix Dance Theatre in August 2011 as an apprentice dancer through the London Contemporary Dance School Apprenticeship Scheme, gaining a distinction for her Postgraduate Diploma, before becoming a dancer with the company in 2012. She teaches company class and has also choreographed for CAT schemes. ‘Axon’, a joint choreographic work with Sandrine Monin, was performed at the National Youth Dance Festival 2016. Vanessa has also been an external examiner for the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Since joining Phoenix Dance Theatre, Vanessa has performed works by: Itzik Galili, Christopher Bruce, Ivgi & Greben, Sharon Watson, Darshan Singh Bhuller, Aletta Collins, Caroline Finn, Richard Wherlock, Ana Lujan Sanchez, Didi Veldman, Robert North, Richard Alston, Philip Taylor, Henri Oguike, Warren Adams, Kate Flatt, Douglas Thorpe and Isira Makuloluwe to name a few.
