Frances Shepherdson

Born and raised in Hull, England, Frances started dancing at the age of 3, trained by her mother at the LWHS School of Dance in the styles Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Musical Theatre and Commercial. At the age of 13 Frances decided she wanted to try something different which led her to the Phoenix Youth Academy, starting with one hour per week this quickly increased. She continued her training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance after gaining a place on the foundation course at 16, from there she progressed onto the degree course where she graduated with a First class honours degree.

During her training Frances worked with choreographers such as Tamsin Fitzgerald, Avatara Ayuso and Anna Williams, and performed in a restaging of ‘Troy Game’ as a guest with Phoenix Dance Theatre as part of the Nadine Senior Gala. Frances is also interested in choreography and has recently had a piece selected and performed at Fresh 2018. Frances is thrilled to be making her professional debut as an apprentice dancer with Phoenix.
