Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
In 2013 Sharon collaborated with BBC’s adaptation of Susanna Clarke’s novel Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and choreographed pieces to feature in the seven-part series screened in 2015.
The critically acclaimed period drama is set in alternative history around the time of the Napoleonic Wars, it is based on the premise that magic once existed in England and has returned with two men: Gilbert Norrell and Jonathan Strange.
Following the untimely death of a politician’s wife, Mr Norrell’s skills are put to the test when he spectacularly raises her from the dead. Unfortunately something goes wrong with Norrell’s spell and she is condemned to spend her sleeping nights attending balls in the Faerie kingdom of Lost-Hope, where they dance all night long.
Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Artistic Director Sharon Watson was Choreographer and Movement Director to Main Cast and many of the movement scenes featured Phoenix Dance Theatre Company Dancers
