Phoenix at Home: A Celebration of Female Choreography

The acclaimed Phoenix dance Theatre, led by Yorkshire Woman of the Year, Sharon Watson, are back for their seventh annual home performance to champion the exceptional female talent within the company.

Expect to see a vibrant showcase of dance, celebrating the work of all female choreographers. Highlights include: Calyx, the first commission for company dancer Sandrine Monin, and a never before seen excerpt from the research and development of Windrush: Movement of the People, a major new piece by Sharon Watson herself; Windrush will première in 2018 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the arrival of SS Empire Windrush that brought the first wave of Caribbean migrants to Britain.

Alongside Calyx and the exclusive Windrush excerpt is an original solo by dancer Carmen Vazquez Marfil; a tongue-in-cheek collaboration between Rehearsal Director Tracy Tinker and dancer Vanessa Vince-Pang and set in the audition room, and a new piece choreographed by dancer Vanessa Vince-Pang for the rising stars of the Phoenix Youth Academy.
