Saturday School

We are proud to offer exciting dance opportunities for children and young people aged 4 to 18.
Our popular Saturday classes are the perfect way to kick off the weekend. Whether a child is taking their first step in the studio or trying contemporary dance for the first time, we support and inspire them every step of the way.
The Saturday School programme encourages creativity, builds confidence, and develops dance technique in a fun and supportive environment, led by our experienced and passionate dance practitioners.
Children also have the chance to showcase their progress through regular studio sharings for parents and carers, as well as performing in our Summer Platform during the summer term.
For those looking to take their dance journey further, there’s a clear progression pathway from Saturday School into our pre-vocational training programme, Phoenix Youth Academy.

Meet the Practitioners
Jennifer Ruiz (Step Up & Level 3)

Jennifer is a West Yorkshire-based dance teacher. Her passion for dance was sparked through the Phoenix Youth Academy programme, which led her to pursue dance as a career. She went on to train at the Institute of the Arts Barcelona, graduating with a First Class BA (Hons) in Dance. During her studies, she gained extensive performance experience, and after graduating, she secured a contract with Disneyland Paris as a character and parade performer.
After returning to the UK, Jennifer joined Phoenix Dance Theatre as a freelance practitioner, marking an exciting step in her professional development. In autumn 2021, she became one of the company’s Learning & Development Officers and has since also taken on the role of Illuminate Lead (maternity cover). Through her work, she continues to inspire and support young people in dance.
