Schools Partnership Scheme

Our Learning & Development department offers Primary and Secondary schools, colleges, and universities across Yorkshire the opportunity to partner with us through our School Partnership Scheme.

Each partnership is tailored to meet your specific needs and budget with exclusive discounts ranging from 2.5% to 15%, depending on the length of our partnership.

What the partnership offers

As a Phoenix Dance Theatre partner school, you’ll receive a tailored dance education programme built around your priorities. We can:

  • Deliver curriculum dance lessons linked to your topics or PE objectives
  • Write and deliver cross-curricular Schemes of Learning
  • Facilitate school productions and creative performance projects
  • Provide extra-curricular enrichment clubs or workshops
  • Offer CPD in dance for staff, helping teachers gain the skills and confidence to teach dance independently
Why this matters now

The government’s recent Curriculum and Assessment Review (2025) highlights the urgent need to improve dance provision within PE:

“Dance is part of the statutory PE Programmes of Study from Key Stages 1 to 4.”

“Ofsted found that many schools do not match the ambition of the national curriculum for Dance: in two-thirds of the schools visited, Dance was not taught to all pupils or was not well organised.”

“A quarter (26%) of primary teachers did not feel confident in teaching the ‘performance of simple dances’ at Key Stage 1, while more than a third (36%) did not feel confident in teaching ‘dances using a range of movement patterns’ at Key Stage 2.”

“We therefore recommend some additional specificity is added to the PE Programmes of Study to clarify expectations for Dance… and improve progression to GCSE Dance. The focus on movement should be retained, but other aspects, such as choreography and performance, should also be considered.”

(Curriculum and Assessment Review: Building a World-Class Curriculum for All, 2025)

In short, dance is a statutory subject, but the report recognises that teachers often lack support, confidence, or resources to deliver it effectively. Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Schools’ Partnership is designed to help address exactly that.
