Black Dance Archives Exhibition in Leeds

8 Feb 2015

We are thrilled that during our premiere run at West Yorkshire Playhouse 11-14th February, there will be an exhibition from Black Dance Archives, featuring Phoenix, RJC Dance, and many other dancers who contributed so heavily to contemporary dance in the UK.  The exhibition then moves to Yorkshire Dance 16th – 25th February.

The British Black Dance Archives project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, aims to capture, record and celebrate the contribution of British Black Dance to the wider dance ecology and to our national, cultural life.

Along side the exhibition, Phoenix, RJC Dance and Yorkshire Dance are delivering an incredible opportunity to explore the archive of the heart of contemporary dance in the UK and see a FREE performance of Mixed Programme 2015 at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
Led by dance pioneers, the workshops will cover how archived works are brought to the stage.
Participants will also see Black Dance Archive’s touring national exhibition prior to the show.
