AJ joined Phoenix Dance Theatre as a Professional Placement Dancer in September 2023, through the Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s Postgraduate Placement Scheme.

In her final year of Northern, she gained the opportunity to work with Akram Khan during the research process for his Jungle Book production, and performed with Phoenix Dance Theatre at their 40th Anniversary at The Playhouse in Leeds.

We caught up with AJ to ask her about her time with the Company and to find out what it has meant to her to be part of the Phoenix family.

“It’s been really nice to be involved with Phoenix Dance Theatre, it’s a very warm family environment so I felt like everyone had welcomed me and shown support to one another which you don’t always expect especially at a dance company”
