New Dancers at Phoenix Dance Theatre
27 Aug 2014
A warm welcome to new Phoenix dancers: Prentice Whitlow, Benjamin Mitchell and apprentice dancer Alice Shepherdson.
Artist Director Sharon Watson’s welcome note:
“One thing guaranteed at Phoenix Dance Theatre is that we never stand still! Metaphorically or otherwise. Earlier this year we said Goodbye to some of our long standing members who have paved the way for new dancers to be seen on the Phoenix stage.
It’s often a sad time saying goodbye to dancers who have shared so much for so long with the company, however it’s very much a joyous occasion to welcome new members to the Phoenix family. Autumn 2014 will see our new dancers performing in our Mixed Programme 2014 which is touring throughout the UK, starting with Phoenix @ Home from September 24– 27.”
Benjamin Mitchell trained at The Royal Ballet School and on graduating joined The Northern Ballet, following this Ben went to Rio de Janeiro to work for Deborah Colker Dance Company.
Prentice Whitlow travels from America to join Phoenix. Prentice graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, coupled with the distinguished Award for Excellence in Performance. Prentice has performed in both Europe and America; his credits include The Mark Morris Dance Group and Østre Gasværk Teater
Alice Shepherdson joins Phoenix as an apprentice dancer this season. Alice trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, where she recently graduated with a BA (Hons).
