Join us for a special panel event to celebrate black dancers in British ballet, hosted by Phoenix Dance Theatre and the Black British Ballet project.

Join us on Friday 21 October as we host a Black British Ballet discussion at our main studio in Leeds. We will be joined by Denzil Bailey, former dancer with English National Ballet, Pamela Johnson, one of the first female dancers to join Phoenix Dance Theatre in the 80s, and Dr Sandie Bourne, PhD of the Black British Ballet project.

During the event, guests will get a chance to learn more about the panellists’ careers in ballet and contemporary dance, followed by an exploration of what barriers remain for black dancers in the British dance industry as a whole and, more importantly, what steps we can take to overcome these.
