We are pleased to announce that Haydn Hull, one of Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Senior Youth Academy students has been accepted into the National Youth Dance Company (NYDC).

Bringing together the brightest talent from across England, NYDC gives young people the opportunity to work with Sadler’s Wells renowned Associate Artists and visiting companies. The company has established a reputation for challenging, high quality work and produces dancers that are open-minded, curious and brave.

NYDC company members can go on to perform in world-class venues, learn original work, develop a range of dance styles, take part in intensive residencies, collaborate with professional choreographers and take part in career enhancement activities.

Charis Charles, Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Director of Access & Education said, “It has been exceptionally rewarding to see Haydn’s development from when he joined us as a Junior Academy student to the present. Through the Phoenix Youth Academy programme, we aim to inspire and train the next generation of contemporary dancers providing them with a gateway into professional practice, and to have success stories like Haydn’s is incredibly fulfilling and validates the need for a programme like this. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Haydn as a Senior Youth Academy student and wish him well as he starts his journey with NYDC”

Phoenix Dance Theatre’s Youth Academies offer pre-vocational training for young people from 13 – 19 years who wish to pursue a career in contemporary dance. The Company currently offers four Academy provisions, two in Leeds and satellite academies in both Newcastle and York.
