Scottish Power Foundation Supports 2026 Windrush Project

22 Jun 2026

We’re pleased to announce our 2026 Windrush Project, made possible through funding from the Scottish Power Foundation.

The funding will enable 12 school groups to take part in an eight-week programme of dance, music, and educational workshops celebrating the legacy and cultural contributions of the Windrush generation.

Celebrating the Legacy of the Windrush Generation

As a company founded by Black British dancers in Leeds, we are committed to championing diverse voices and ensuring that young people have access to inspiring and artistic experiences. Our 2026 Windrush Project will invite participants to explore the stories, experiences, and achievements of the Windrush generation. By engaging creatively with this history, young people will gain a deeper understanding of the significant contributions Caribbean communities have made to British culture, identity, and society.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Across the eight-week programme, participants will work with professional artists and educators to develop new creative skills and collaborate with their peers. Through weekly workshops, they will also work directly with a professional dance practitioner to create a brand-new piece inspired by the Windrush generation.

The project will end in a series of performances, showcasing the young people’s creative responses to themes of identity, belonging, heritage, and diversity. We are grateful to the Scottish Power Foundation for its support in making these opportunities possible.
