We are thrilled to announce that Phoenix’s Artistic Director Sharon Watson has been nominated for a Yorkshire Choice Award as Inspirational Individual of the Year!

The Yorkshire Choice Awards will recognise local people and independent businesses that are an inspiration in their field. The categories cover a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets, yet they all have one thing in common – the will to achieve!

Sharon Watson is Leeds born and bred and was appointed as the 7th Artistic Director of Phoenix Dance Theatre in May 2009. Since then she has reaffirmed the Company’s core values through all of its activities whilst enriching and embodying the spirit of a multi-cultural Britain. Sharon was also recently appointed as independent chair of the steering committee, bidding for European Capital of Culture Leeds 2023 championing the pride of Leeds on the world stage.

Throughout 2016 the Company celebrates its 35 year of outstanding dance with a special anniversary tour celebrating the diversity and collaboration for which the Company has become internationally known.
