Aaron Chaplin
Company Dancer & Assistant RD
Born and raised in London, Aaron began his dance training aged six at Theatre Peckham in the London Borough of Southwark. Beginning in Tap, Jazz and Musical Theatre, his interest in rhythm and syncopation was sparked.
Continuing his training at The BRIT School, Aaron was introduced to contemporary dance at the age of 16, joining the all-male company Khronos (now Khronos Agoria) during his time there. Aaron attended Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (2014-17) where he graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Contemporary Dance. Working with artists and choreographers such as Dr. Naomi Lefebvre Sell, Ben Wright, Charles Linehan and Jessica Wright of Company Wayne McGregor, Aaron performed in the restaged work of Wayne McGregor’s FAR during his time at the school as well as performing at Resolutions 2017 at The Place with J7s Dance Company.
After graduating, Aaron accepted a place as an apprentice with Phoenix Dance Theatre through the professional placement scheme at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). In 2018 Aaron became a Company Dancer and since then has worked with many acclaimed choreographers such as Sharon Watson MBE DL, Dane Hurst, Darshan Singh Bhuller, Sarah Golding and Jeanguy Saintus. Aaron took on the role of Assistant Rehearsal Director for Requiem: Journeys of the Soul in Leeds and Cape Town, South Africa, in 2023. Alongside being Phoenix Dance Theatre’s current longest serving Company Dancer, Aaron is Assistant Rehearsal Director.
