Mason Jubb
Professional Training Manager
Born and raised in Leeds, Mason began his dance training at the age of 17, having gained a place on the Centre for Advanced Training Scheme at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Mason later progressed to full-time vocational training and graduated from NSCD with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance in 2016, where he was awarded with the Carolyn Woolridge award for outstanding performance. On graduating, Mason joined NSCD’s postgraduate company VERVE and subsequently joined Black Box Dance Company (Holstebro Dansk Kompagni), Denmark, as a company dancer in 2017.
Mason toured contemporary dance works around Europe and further afield including Greenland and Tanzania and performed works by Tim Rushton (Danish Dance Theatre), Fotis Nikalaou, Jason Mabana, Stephanie Thomasen (Uppercut Dance Theatre), Tina Taarpgard and Marie Brolin-Tani (Skanes Dance Theatre).
Mason has always been extremely passionate about teaching, community development and creating work at youth dance level and has been doing so since 2015, Choreographing on the NSCD CAT Grad Students. The Kick Off Boys and the DAZL EXCEL Programme, where Masons choreographed work was selected to represent Yorkshire at the regional U.Dance Festival.
Mason has an innate desire for contributing to an individual’s overall development and he is super excited to continue to grow himself through this chapter with Phoenix Dance Theatre.
