About Kirke:

Kirke by Sandrine Monin is the second contemporary dance piece created by the rising choreographer for Phoenix Dance Theatre. The work had its first public preview during Phoenix Dance Theatre’s 2018 Phoenix at Home event. Based on the narrative of the first witch Circe, the piece follows a central female figure who draws her ethereal powers from the earth to lure sailors onto her deserted island. The piece explores Kirke’s emotional journey as she transforms from being a vengeful witch exiled from society to someone who can care, trust and love.
